English Classes: fall 2024

Our first fall session runs from September 3 to October 17 (see below).

The second fall session is from October 29 to December 17 (schedule is not yet finalized). 

Level 1: Very Beginner class

Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6 to 8 p.m. (September 3 to October 17) | $25 registration fee (scholarships are available) | 12 openings

This class is designed for people who know no English, and is beneficial for those who are illiterate. The focus is on listening and comprehension more than speaking. Students will learn a ton of basic vocabulary via interactive listening games. Topics include colors, calendar/time, food, family, clothing, furniture, money, and more. Useful “power phrases” for basic needs are also learned and practiced. REQUIREMENT: Students should have close to no ability to communicate in English. 

Level 2: Continuing Beginner class

Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9:15 to 11:30 a.m. (September 3 to October 17) | $25 registration fee (scholarships are available) | 5 openings This class is designed for people with limited English. The focus is on listening, comprehension, and speaking. Students will learn a ton of basic vocabulary via interactive listening games. REQUIREMENT: Students should already know common greetings and have a basic understanding of words related to topics such as colors, calendar/time, food, family, clothing, furniture, and money. 

Level 3: Advanced Beginner class

Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9:15 to 11:30 a.m. (September 3 to October 17) | $25 registration fee (scholarships are available) | 5 openings

Improve English through a combination of listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Lessons focus on structure and vocab that allow students to confidently use English in their daily lives. Each lesson also includes a culture tip to help students learn about their new country. REQUIREMENT: Students should be able to read, write, and have a basic conversation in English.
